Brief History:

The masjid was founded in 1993. The masjid building was previously a timbers merchant and prior to that part of a farm building dating back to medieval times. With the help of Allah, the All Mighty, the building was bought by seventeen local families who recognised the dire need for a masjid in the area. Money was raised by door to door collections up and down the country by the founding members, as well as personal loans from brothers in the community, to avoid interest bearing loans.

Maulana Ibraheem and Abdul Hadi from Birmingham and members of other Dawah Masjids and most of the local community were present when the main beam holding the main hall of the masjid was erected. Brother Alyas Karmani was the first to pioneer da’wah activities in the masjid in the English language in the mid nineties. Khutbas and other programmes in English have been a regular feature at the masjid ever since.

The masjid has two floors. The ground floor, which is used by brothers, has a main prayer hall and wudu area. The first floor is used by sisters and consists of a kitchen, wudu facilities, prayer hall where sisters’ only events are held.
